The company started in 2004, in a Harvard dorm, is building its user base after it was hit hard by a dip in its shares following it going public couple of months ago.
Recently, Facebook claimed to have a billion users a month. Founder Mark Zuckerberg had thanked the users saying: "If you're reading this: thank you for giving me and my little team the honor of serving you. Helping a billion people connect is amazing, humbling and by far the thing I am most proud of in my life."
Facebook says those billion users are responsible for 1.13 trillion "likes", 219 billion photos and 17 billion location check-ins.
